I’m sure that we’re all familiar with praying: either to God, angels, or other spiritual beings. Many of us say prayers in the morning, in the evening, or throughout the day. Sometimes we even say prayers at all three! Even when we say a prayer, we are typically invoking the spiritual being to whom the prayer is directed. In this article, we’re going to look at a very specific type of invocation: archangel invocation. Not only we’ll be looking at how you can perform such an invocation, but we’ll also look at the Archangels themselves and why you may choose to call upon Archangel Michael instead of Gabriel (for example). So, let’s take a look at what invocation actually is.
Understanding Archangel invocation
Just to avoid any confusion, we’re going to take a moment to fully understand what archangel invocation actually is. In simple terms, it’s a form of prayer that you would use in a specific situation. A prayer can be said for anything, but invocation is about calling upon the power of the Archangels for a specific purpose, usually for right then and there. To give you an example, you wouldn’t invoke the power of the Archangels for tomorrows interview or for your friend’s wedding next month. Instead, you would pray for these events to go well.
However, if you were about to walk down the aisle on your wedding day and needed strength or felt that you needed protection, you might invoke an Archangel, thereby calling them to the present moment in the hopes of using their power. We’ll cover a few more examples as we look at the Archangel invocation itself, but hopefully, you at least have a better understanding of how prayer differs from invocation, even if the difference itself is rather small.

How to Use Archangel invocation
So, what is the correct way to use this call to Archangels? Well, there isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way, but there are situations that would be more appropriate than others, much in the same way that there isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way to pray. No Archangel is obligated to aid you or provide their power or presence simply because you call upon them.
For example, if you call upon the strength of Archangel Michael because you’re about to get into a fist fight, your call would likely be ignored. On a rather similar note, if you were to call upon Archangel Gabriel and his communicative abilities, all so you can lie or deceive someone more effectively, then your call is unlikely to be answered.
If your invocation is on the basis of desiring the aid of Archangels to complete an immoral act, they will most likely choose not to help you.
Some people will feel an intuitive need to reach out to an Archangel during a time of need. This Archangel invocation call is triggered by gut instinct and nudges from other spiritual beings. In such a situation, it’s best not to ignore your feelings.
Exploring Archangel invocation
We’re now going to take a look at some specific examples of invocations. It’s important to remember that these are just examples and can be used as they are or altered to better fit your own unique situation.
These examples are simply guidelines and you can invoke any Archangel in whatever manner feels right to you. All you have to do is reach out to an Archangel either by speaking out loud or saying the words within yourself. Just remember to reach out with your spirit as this is how an Archangel will hear you.
Invoking Archangel Michael
Archangel Michael is considered to be the leader of the Archangels and is God’s chosen warrior angel. His role is to protect us from spiritual harm and to provide light in the darkest of places. You might choose to call upon the power of Archangel Michael when you’re in an emotionally dark place such as when you’ve lost a close friend or family member and grief is getting the better of you. Perhaps you might reach out to him for strength when those around you are weak.
Let’s look at a couple of examples of Archangel invocation for Michael:
Archangel Michael, I ask that you protect me now!
Archangel Michael, provide me with strength so that I can provide it to those around me!
I call upon the warrior angel for strength so that I may protect those around me from harm!
Invoking Archangel Gabriel
Another of the more common Archangels is Gabriel, who appears to Mary in the Bible to inform her that she will give birth to the son of God. Gabriel is the Archangel of communication which can include communication with other humans but also with spiritual beings and even our higher selves. You may choose to invoke Gabriel when you find your ability to communicate has become limited.
Let’s look at some examples of Archangel invocation for Gabriel:
Gabriel, help me to express my emotions in a healthy manner!
Archangel Gabriel, shine your light on me so that I may look beyond my ego to my true self in search of spiritual guidance!
I call upon Gabriel to provide me with the energy to reach beyond the physical world so that I may commune with my Guardian Angel more effectively!
Invoking Archangel Raphael
We’re going to look at one last Archangel: Raphael. When it comes to invoking the power of angels, Raphael is probably the most common choice. He is the Archangel of healing: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. There are many reasons why you may need the power of Raphael.
If an injury or wound is putting you in harm’s way, you may call upon him for pain relief. It could be that your own thoughts are betraying you. Similarly, it could be that you feel like your spirituality has been damaged.
So, let’s look at some examples of Archangel invocation for Raphael:
Raphael, I call upon your power to ease the pain in my jaw so that I can continue to work and provide for my family!
Archangel Raphael, I reach out for your light so that you can guide me back towards my true path!
